Indie Campers rental terms

Rental terms of Indie Campers, updated on 13 October 2026.

The following is a summary of the main rental conditions for Indie Campers in mainland Europe, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Iceland. It is provided for guidance only. The complete and legally binding rental agreement is published by the supplier in English here. The supplier's fees are set in euros and converted to the local currency at the rate applicable when they are charged.

Cancellation policy

  • Bookings made through Campervan Sweden use Indie Campers' Basic cancellation option.
  • Cancel more than 1 day before the scheduled pick-up: 5% of the booking amount is refunded.
  • Cancel on the pick-up day or later, or do not show up: no refund.
  • Serious illness or death of a traveller or a first-degree relative, or an official travel ban, notified at least 72 hours before pick-up with valid documents: a travel voucher valid for 12 months instead of a refund.
  • Changes of dates, pick-up location or vehicle after booking are subject to availability and to the supplier's modification conditions.

Protection plans, liability and security deposit

  • Every booking includes the Basic protection plan. Your liability, also called deductible or excess, is the most you pay for covered damage during one rental: EUR 2,500. In some pick-up locations it ranges between EUR 2,500 and EUR 8,000; the exact amount is confirmed on your rental agreement.
  • Premium protection plan (optional upgrade): liability EUR 0, up to 3 additional drivers included and a substitute vehicle if needed.
  • Security deposit held on the main driver's card at pick-up: EUR 2,000 with the Basic plan, EUR 500 with the Premium plan. It is released after the vehicle is checked in, minus any charges you are responsible for. Card issuer processing times apply.
  • The deposit can only be placed with a physical Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit or debit card in the main driver's name, and the cardholder must be present at pick-up. Debit cards must allow a hold.
  • The liability limit does not apply to damage excluded by the agreement, for example driving under the influence, driving off-road or on restricted roads, driving by a person not named on the rental agreement, or negligence.

Mileage

  • Unlimited mileage is included in every booking made through Campervan Sweden, subject to Indie Campers' responsible usage policy.

Driver and licence

  • Every driver must hold a valid licence that allows them to drive the rented vehicle in the country of pick-up and drop-off, and must be named on the rental agreement. A licence held for at least 1 year is required.
  • The minimum driver age depends on the country and is shown on the vehicle page.
  • Additional drivers: not included with the Basic plan (a fee applies); up to 3 included with the Premium plan.

Pick-up and drop-off

  • Online check-in is mandatory before pick-up.
  • Arrive at the scheduled pick-up time; a grace period of 30 minutes applies. Later arrivals must be communicated to the supplier and may be charged, and a no-show is treated as a cancellation without refund.
  • Fuel: full to full.
  • Where the vehicle has a generator, its use is charged per hour at the rate stated in the vehicle description.
  • Pets: allowed with a fee. Smoking: not allowed.

  • All fees (late pick-up, cleaning, additional drivers, tolls, fines and similar) are listed in the supplier's Fee, Compensation and Service Levels document, which prevails over this summary.
